Hello all!
I am now back at school and have just settled into my new dorm. I'm so stoked for the new school year and I'm thankful for my school, my friends, and new experiences. Now that school is picking up and a new season is just around the corner, stress and negativity are also not too far behind. But one of the most powerful weapons in battling negative energy is getting a new perspective on a chaotic situation. For example, yesterday there was a huge storm with driving rain and everything got completely soaked within seconds. I had to run through giant puddles in my tiny flip flops and carry a full-length mirror along with a couple bags of groceries, and traffic coming back from the store was crazy. It seemed pretty chaotic when I realized I left my windows open, so I was worried all my stuff in my room was drenched. But as I watched the storm, I realized that even though it was grey and wet outside, the rain did bring some coolness to sweep away some of the humidity. It's easy to start complaining and getting overly frustrated when things don't go as planned, but getting angry about the situation doesn't fix anything for me. No matter how hard I worry or ruminate on the things that didn't go right, or the things I can't control, I run the risk of getting depressed and hostile. Silly things like rain aren't going to kill me. I can't control the weather (although sometimes I wish I could) and everything is going to be okay once I take a step back and calm down. Even when things seem horrible, there is always something beautiful and/or positive. So think on the bright side and try to get a new perspective on crazy scenarios. And take a few deep breaths. It's all going to be okay this season!
Peace and love always!
